Toy Story 3
As far as sequels go, this one takes the cake. The characters of Toy Story have come to life once again in this animated heart-warming film. Although new characters are added, they seem to help the story rather than hinder it. The plot is far from predictable and keeps you on your toes the whole way through. You will laugh, you will cry, you will get angry. But all in all, you will come away loving the story even more than the first one. Definitely a top-of-the-list recommendation!

How to Train Your Dragon
This movie is easily my favorite movie of all time. Deep, touching, heart-warming, great dramatic depth, storyline is great, and just a great ending that isn't cheesy and cliched. I highly recommend this.

Megamind
This is probably Will Ferrels best movie yet, as a matter of fact it's the best movie I've seen in a long time. If you like me and get tired of the the same cliche storylines and really get tired of watching animation because that is what your kids like, this movie will not disappoint. I started watching this movie with my son, with in the back of my mind "great another animation to annoy me for 90 minutes", but it didn't. It was fun and entertaining and I even forgot I was watching an animated movie. My son has watched it repeatedly since then and I havn't gotten tired of it. I even request it on occation.

Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind
I first saw this anime when I was a pre-teen. It was the first Japanese anime I ever saw. I was absolutely captivated. Now at age 27, I am still as captivated by it as the first time I saw it. The first version I saw was the abridged English dubbed version. I also had possession of the Japanese version but without subtitles. Both were bootlegs and I watched them both several times (despite my inability to understand Japanese). Before the Disney release hit the stores, a friend of mine found a boot leg copy of the Japanese version with English subtitles. The subtitles were sloppy and inaccurate. There was some dialogue that was never even translated. However, with the understanding provided by the additional scenes in combination with a more accurate portrayal of dialogue than the English dub version, Nausicaa took on a whole new and deeper level of meaning and plot.

Gnomeo and Juliet
It is a movie that takes its base from the story of Romeo and Juliet, adds the music of Elton John, and uses garden gnomes, a lawn flamingo, and other garden statuary as characters. I was expecting nothing except a G-rated film that would keep my 4-year-old entertained; I was quite pleasantly surprised. It was well written and had great visual humour.

Alice in Wonderland
Even though I like the book, "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland," more than I like the Disney film, the film is still magnificent. The animation is nothing short of gorgeous, as is the case with all of Disney's animation, and the continuity is solid. The characters are instantly likable, and I just love the songs. I would recommend this movie to anybody. It's a classic.

Cars
From the beginning to the end of the film, my mouth was hanging open. It is visually stunning! Nothing looks this good. It's amazing how they made the cars look so much like real cars and mimic the human characters. They've captured, not only the visuals, but the atmosphere and character America's Main Street Perfectly.

Tron: Legacy & Tron: The Original Classic
To be quite honest, I don't like the original Tron movie at all. And to tell the truth, I don't even know what convinced me to see Legacy at the Imax theater. I am happy I did though. What I found was a great soundtrack, amazing special effects, and all over a very decent story line. The only downfall of this movie is the 3D version. For me, it's a headache seeing so much bright neon lights in 3D all over the place. I know a lot of people are writing reviews of this movie saying how bad it is. I say just watch it for yourself and prepare to be entertained. It's an Action Sci Fi, so just enjoy it for what it is. This movie is definitely meant for a HDTV for sure.

The Incredibles
This was somewhat of a surprise hit when it came out in 2004. Most of the attention was on a competing animated film but this is the one that turned out to be a huge box-office success. Word of mouth helped his immensely. It's what made me check it out, as several friends recommended it. I wound up agreeing with them: it's excellent entertainment.
From that point, I began checking out almost every new animated film and have usually been pleased. Animated movies have been astounding the past four years and especially now with Blu-Ray.
As impressive as the visuals and sound are, it's the story that carries this film: a solid combination of humor, drama, suspense, family ties and action.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader
Any cinematic adaptation of a popular literary work must find a balance between hewing to the book and appealing to moviegoers. The stakes in this case are well-known: the fate of the Narnia franchise depended on Voyage of the Dawn Treader's box office take. In order to appeal to the largest and most reliable crowd--families with young children--the screenwriters had to keep the plot fast and simple enough to ensure that kids wouldn't get confused or bored. The Voyage of the Dawn Treader is more challenging to adapt than other books in the series because of its lack of an obvious conflict and its episodic, slow-and-go narrative. For the film, the writers added an enemy (green mist), merged several book scenes, and changed the order of events to create a buildup of dramatic tension that wasn't in the book. Aside from the contrived Green Mist archenemy, I think they did a very good job.

The Lion King
Considered the cream of the crop of all the Disney animated features by many, it is definitely worth owning. I don't think I'll go into the story, which I'm sure most of you know. Chances are you've already seen the movie and are just waiting to own it on a piece of media that won't rot like your VHS tape that probably fell apart by now. Even if Disney released a sub par release of this movie, you'd buy it.

Tangled
The creative minds at Disney can produce great movies when they decide to, and Tangled is one of them. If you liked Little Mermaid or Beauty and the Beast, you will want to own this. It is visually dazzling and the musical score greatly complements the onscreen action. It is highly recommended viewing by the entire family.
